Description
This painting was commissioned by the daughter of a dear friend of mine who died many years ago in a hit-and-run accident. Her daughter and parents were visiting her gravesite this past summer when a dragonfly kept flying around them and came to rest on each of them. Her daughter’s quote: “Everyone believes what they choose to believe. We know what we believe and it was such an amazing feeling.”
After I began the painting, I awakened in the middle of the night with a poem in my head, which I added to the painting. I should add, I never write poetry. So I, too, will believe that it was not my words, but Karen’s words, to her family, through me.

Kimberlee, thanks so much for sharing your story. That's awesome! And my sincere sympathies on the passing of your mother. May God bless you with comfort and healing in the knowledge that she is ever present and always watching over you. :-)

Donna, I believe! For the last few years since I started back painting after having not picked up a paintbrush in over 20 years, my first painting was of a blue dragonfly, and, uncannily, when we laid my mom to rest this August, a blue dragonfly kept flying around her gravesite and me, which gave me goosebumps! I include them and butterflies/bees, as well as rainbows as symbols in my paintings/artwork and believe they can be a means of "entertaining angels unawares", and a form of "after death communication"! God bless you in your work and your friend's family. May they be comforted in the years to come by these inspirational winged ones! Fave! L/F/FB!
