First Place FAA Contest Winner - Inspired by Monet's Water Lilies Contest - July 22, 2016

"Water Lilies," 11x14 oil on canvas.

I have wanted to paint water lilies for a while. I studied some of Monet's beautiful water lily paintings before starting this one. I printed a photo of one of Monet's paintings and used elements of it as a reference. I was able to adopt some of the color palette he used but had a difficult time trying to stick to his style and sort of broke out and did my own thing. Doug took the actual reference photo for this painting from our 2011 trip to Napa at the lily pond at Hess Winery.
